Hello,
I am looking for any articles, pictures, or information on Ralph E. Butts, my grandfather. I have his Silver Star, medals and flag. He told me a few stories before his passing, and I want to add whatever I can to his memory. Thank you all for your assistance!

Hello Anders,
We'll do what we can. Ralph is listed as serving in C Company, 714th Tank Battalion, which was a part of Combat Command B of the 12th Armored Division. Please go to the left column on this page, click on "Books and Written Experiences", and scroll down to the section on the 714th Tank Battalion. These documents can provide you information on some ot the events your grandfather experienced. We would need to learn when he joined C/714 to determine which of those experiences he was present for. I will send your email and inquiry to the 714th Unit Representative from the 12th Armored Division Association as well as other researchers to see what we can learn. Do you have any documents pertaining to Ralph's service? Discharge, orders for his Silver Star, or any other documents that may provide more info on his service. We'll do what we can.

I've found some solid info and maybe a picture. Seems he saved a tank commander and delayed the enemy long enough for back up to arrive when the column was ambushed.

99% sure I have two pictures of him (one is for certain). I will forward these to Bob Scherer after work tonight.
