Harry Richart, jr, was commander of Co. D of the 23rd Tank Bn upon deploying the ETO in Sep 44. He was subsequently assigned as CO of Co A and later captured in the Feb/Mar 45 timeframe. I understand he later escaped, was recaptured and wounded twice. Ive read the 23 Tk Bn history that listed him as being captured and my mother was notified at one point that he was MIA. Im looking for additional details regarding anything else regarding his combat/Wartime experiences.

Harry, thanks for your interest in the 12th Armored Division. I admire your search for your Dad's history. In addition to the 12th AD Museum, which preserves the Division's history and artefacts, there is the 12th AD Association which preserves the comradeship and contact between members and their families. The Assn had unit representatives for each battalion. The Unit Rep for the 23rd is Geoff Lackey. His Dad was also in A Co. We have one living A Co vet and a couple of other family members of A Co vets. I will send your request to Geoff and ask him to contact you. He may have other information on A Co as well. Best of luck! Bob Scherer, 12th AD Assn historian
