Researching my fathers service history for April 1945 I see extensive information in the journals for Companies "A" and "C" but not "B". Was "B" assigned elsewhere? I'm simply trying to map his letters home/dates to the Journals and the 12th AID Operations Map and dates to determine where he served and when.

I'm assuming your Dad was Cois Jean of B/17. I will put you in contact with Ed Goeppinger also B/17. Ed can best tell you about B Co. We have had a few inquires from B/17 veterans and families. I'm sure we can collectively help you out.

Hello, DRJ If you go to BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES,
go back to the memoirs from the 17th. If you read the JOURNAL OF OPERATIONS for the 17th, you
will see monthly After Action Reports. Apparently the originals have been retyped. I can check the originals
against these copies. This is the first time that I noticed that the Journal was really a compilation of the
After Action Reports. George Hatt may have done this work. (Unfortunately he has passed on). The retyped reports may not contain lists of names for awards etc.
I will look for specific references in other places for your father's information.

drjcullman: I see you are from Cullman. I live in Huntsville. A couple of times a year, 12 AD family members and veterans living in North Alabama / South TN meet up. Let me know if you are interested in joining us sometime. I can put you in touch with the POC's who organize the gatherings. (At this time I don't know of one). Btw, my dad was in 17th AIB, HQ Co. I've done a lot of research over the years. This is a great organization to be a part of.
