i am so proud of my Dad, Howard Herring.
if anyone can offer any stories, remember him in any
way, i would be so grateful.
i know he had an African-American friend. they exchanged Christmas cards for a few years after the war. my Dad thought of him as a good friend.
Dad passed away March 8, 2008. i love him more than anyone in my life. my dad , as the rest of you are
true heroes. thank you.

Hello, After a quick search I was able to find a picture of your Dad in a group picture. (I was looking for stories and have not found any yet).

thank you for finding a picture of dad!
my dad , Howard Herring did not live in Beaumont TX, but would that have an army base? i remember he said in Texas the soldiers shook their boots upside down in case a scorpion was in there;)
may i purchase archived Hellcat News or 12th Armored
Division scrapbooks?
also after the war my dad maintained contact with an african american man via Christmas cards. i wonder if hes still alive?
