I am looking for any information on my Great Uncle, Sgt. Roger Davisson. I know he was assigned to the 17th AIB Co B in December 1944. He was an assistant rifle squad leader. In June 1945 he was given a special duty assignment to fly home with Gen. Eisenhower and do a morale tour. I have found his name in an article in the June 1945 Hellcat News. Looking for anyone who knew him, or had any other info! Thanks so much, and God bless all of you!!

Some additional info...he also served in Africa and Italy and was, what I believe was called a replacement? Does that make sense?

I'm Bob Scherer the 12th AD Assn historian. Please look at the left column of this website, click on Books and Written Experiences, scroll down to the 17th AIB section and read some of the entries. You probably won't find your great uncle's name, but you will be able to follow B Co from Dec 44 forward and see what he was doing. If you send me your name and email I'll get you in touch with the 17th AIB unit rep and we'll see if we can help you. Also, I'll be going to the National Personnel Records Center in St Louis in March and would be happy to see what I can find on great uncle. Please contact me at rwscherer@verizon.net. Thanks.
