I am looking for information about the battle that killed my great uncle. Immanuel was in the 119th Engineering Battalion, Co. C. He was killed January 19, 1945. Thank you.

Hello Kristy, There does not appear to be a battalion memoir for the 119th Armored Engineers (unless it is not
properly indexed). But there are things for you to read and see. Just to the left, click on DEATH OF AN AMERICAN COMBAT COMMAND. This describes the battle of Herrlisheim. On January 19th the 12th was in a lot of trouble as it had already taken heavy losses.

Another suggestion: Scroll down the left side and click on Oral History Videos. The click on BATTALION at the top of the column. On page one, you will see the 119th all sorted together. Three or four were from Company C, and several more from company A and Headquarters.

Because Herrlisheim was such a costly battle, every battalion will have a chapter on this battle in each of their memoirs.
(Go to BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES on the left).

Also, contact the Unit Representative to the Hellcat News: Mary Ann Delker

it is possible that he was put in an infantry unit to replace a casualty. Many were.
