My Father, Raymond S Krautheim was a Hellcat, never talked much about the service. I had no idea you guys were heros ( "I" think so anyway). My Dad did talk about the people that looked like skeletons. He was an MP/ truck driver. I read in some of my research that the 12th had their ID painted over and liberated many of the POW camps & Death camps. I know my Dad drove truckloads of German prisoners after the war and talked about checking for SS soldiers and they usually never made it to their destinations but very little else and usually when he got a little "sauced". Dad was mean as a snake and we figure he suffered from PTSD.He had lots of time to make up (He made sargeant 3 times)and was a little late in responding to his notice to show up for duty. Dad was one of the "Hellcat Holiday" show and loved that. Anyone know him?

WestVirginia - I know it's been a while since you've posted. I found your Dad's name in the 7 Jul 45 issue of the Hellcat News published in Heidenheim, GE. You Dad was a PFC at the time and one of the MPs and other Soldiers pulled from the 12th to form the 100th MP Bn, nicknamed the "Century Hellcops" which was activated on 1 Jul 45 and assigned to 7th Army. Many other Hellcats were listed there, but I don't recognize any of the names. If you see this, please email me at rwscherer@verizon.net. Thanks and good luck. Bob Scherer
