Hello, Can you tell us the name of his
battalion or the kind of battalion: armored infantry, tank, medical, etc. I can't find him in our
17,000 man roster. However, this roster
does not have every name.

On his discharge papers it says Troop D 92nd Calvary Recon Sqdn 12th Armd Div.

He was with an anti-aircraft unit during the war and said that his unit was attached to various units.

He departed for EAME in Jan 29 1944, arriving Feb 5, 1944. His serial umber is 34 725 601. He was a Pfc.

His military occupation was AAA AW crewman 3601.

Thanks!

572nd
Hello again. We have two choices, either the 572nd Anti Aircraft Artillery, or Troop D of the 92nd Recon. We will pursue both options. I have not found your father's name on the rosters of either unit, but you can check for yourself. Go to BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES and find the 572nd AAA and also
the 92nd Recon. Both books have rosters.
I am guessing that your Dad was with the 572nd AAA and was detached from that unit and assigned to the 92nd Recon. Just a guess.

THE 572ND JOINED THE 12TH IN lUNEVILLE AND STAYED WITH THEM. tHEY WERE ON/IN HALFTRACKS.
If discharge records show 92nd it means that was who they were assigned to when discharged and not who they were with before May 8, 1945. If you could send a copy of discharge record to me, I might get further clues.

I have thoroughly checked rosters of the 92nd and 572nd and found no mention of him. One other possibility would be the 434th AAA AW.
