We were researching Robert Gabriel's service last year and are continuing now. His daughter received his Bronze Star with Valor last summer. The citation was for action on the 7th of Jan. 45. ??

The citation for the Bronze Star is given in
they "General Orders" Each one usually has several names and a paragraph for each man,
describing what he did to earn the medal.
I believe this will also include the name of
the nearest town or village. These General
Orders can be found in the National Archives in College Park Maryland. You should plan
on two days to search the files. Or, perhaps you can contact them and ask that some one
look through the files for you. (You may have
to pay for that).

Do you have the General Orders Number? Do you have the citation describing what Robert
Gabriel did? I would expect the name of the
town to be there.
