posted 3/2/2015 5:48:28 AM Hello Phillip,
Perhaps Newton Dilley or Ed Pierce may be able to help. They were near there at the time. I will look through some records as well. As you know, the 56th was in or near Herrlisheim, near Strassburg.

PS May I ask whether a relative of yours was wounded or killed at that time?

posted 3/2/2015 6:04:41 AM Hi Phil, Go to BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES on the left column. Click on HISTORY OF THE 56TH AIB. Go to Appendix I (reconstructed by Billy Black a few years ago and Appendix II written in 1945 by Joe Lapic).
Billy Black says:
Traveled from Lindre- Basse to Kurtzenheuser to Bischwiller.
Kurtzenheuser is listed by Joe Lapic.
Kurtenheuser is about 31 miles from Bischwiller.
The way these two sources are written, I would guess that Kurtzenheuser is the answer to your question.
