Hello all. I was just wondering if anyone out there had any memories/stories/recollection of my grandfather, Elmer Steffy. 17th AIB Co A.

Museum has three pictures of him with 119th Engineers. I haven't found connect yet but he is in roster as 17th. Might just be with friends. If you have an email I will scan and send you a picture to see if it is him.
Has SGT. stripes. hARRY, 12TH mUSEUM

After checking some of the names IN THE PICTURES, he was in the 17th. The 119th was in error.

See how to research the Hellcat News in my
entry on Dec. 31, 2014.

There is quite a bit on Elmer Steffy.
The Hellcat News of Jan. 1967, p. 4 says he
owned a barber shop.

June, 22nd, 1944, he was promoted to Staff
sgt.

Oct. 1996, p. 3, It is recorded when he won the Exprt Infantryman's Badge while in training.

June 2, 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star.

There are a total of 60 potential mentions of his name in different issues of the Hellcat News.

Thanks you for the info! Yes he actually had his barbershop up until about ten years ago. Didnt retire til he was 83 i believe. He actually got a call from a guy he served with not long ago I believe due to this message board. Just wanted to say thanks he ended up talking to the gentleman a good while. Its nice to see him remember the old days, even if they werent always good ones.
Thanks again

Ben
