I was just looking through some of the pictures on this site in the '2713 Division Photos' section. I'm wondering why there is no category for the 23rd Tank Battalion. Dozens of photos from the 23rd have been contributed to the Hellcat News, and the book of the History of the 23rd Tank Battalion. Was this an oversight? This is an excellent website, thank you very much.

2713 Division Photos.

I am also interested in photos of the 23rd tank battalion. The previous poster mentioned a book on the history of the 23rd tank battalion. Where can I find this book? Thank you.

Hello, On this website, look to the left.
Click on BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES
Then scroll down to TANKS, and find the
History of the 23rd Tank Battalion.

In addition, look up the books on the
495th Field Artillery and the 17th Armored Infantry Battalion. These battalions all worked together in Combat Command R.

In addition look to the left and read:
DEATH OF AN AMERICAN COMBAT COMMAND..

Go to the Left column and click on ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS. Click at the top of the
Battalion Column. Then all of the interviews will be sorted by battalion.

I put the following into Google:

12th Armored Division 23rd Tank Battalion

Several websites came up, including pictures of burnt out
tanks taken by soldiers who returned in July, 1945.
These pictures were taken by men of the 23rd.

Enter the following into Google:

http://texashistory.unt.edu/explore/partners/TADM/browse/

Then in the box on the screen, enter

23d Tanks

Also click on photographs

There are several good pictures of 23d tanks
in Europe. JUST WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR!
