I was hoping someone out there could help me uncover a little more information about my grandfather Frank W Grippo. All I know is the few stories that my grandfather told my dad. The one that sticks out the most was when they found an abandoned BMW R75 and drove it around until it got stuck in a ditch and they had to leave it. The other one, which my grandfather was purposely vague on, was something to do with digging graves at a concentration camp. Anyway the last thing that I can tell you is he brought home a Nazi flag. It was special in some way because it had a unique design on it, unlike the standard flag. The flag was also signed by his squad or platoon. Unfortunately this flag was stolen by a family member who is no longer alive. The last anyone has ever seen or heard of it was my grandmother. She received a call about 30 years ago about a Nazi flag with the Name Frank Grippo on it. It was confiscated from a student at Garfield, NJ high school. My grandmother assumed the flag was still in my grandfathers chest so she said it didn't belong to her. It was only a year later that they realized it was taken. Any info about my grandfather or his flag would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I spoke to Don Ketchem a member of the 119th and at the time he could not recall the name. He was in the process of an estate sale at his home and was under a lot of pressure. I copied your posting and gave it to him. He does not have a computer and will be moving to VA some time in July. If I hear any more from him I will post it for you. He and his wife are moving to a home care facility due to age. Both are in their 90's.

Thank you harry for that information. I'm going to contact Michael Belanger about the flag tomorrow.

Thank you for your help Joe. Please let Don Ketchem know that I really appreciate any information he has.

Thanks Again
