Hello all, I am trying to help one of the Police Officers that I work with find info on his grandfather's service with the 56th in WWII.His name was Arvill Miller. He was attached to the HQ company. The officer knows that Arvill fought in Germany but that's it.Arvill was from Tenn. and his group of men trained there before being sent overseas.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please contact the Unit Representative to
the Hellcat News, Mr. Ed Pierce. He was in
A company, but may have known Arvil Miller.
He can put an announcement in the Hellcat News.

My grandad was also in 56AIB HQ Co. They fought in France, Germany, and Austria from November '44 to May '45. In January of '45 they were pinned down in Herrlisheim France in one of the bloodiest battles of the war. There are several pretty good written accounts of the battle. Google Bloody Bloody Herrlisheim.
