My Dad was part of Co. B in the 23rd tank battalion. He used to load the cannon. His name was James Sideris. He and his "buddies" as he called them, used to get together for yearly reunions where they would reminisce about their war experience together. If anyone has information on Co.B I would love to know about it.

Dear Mr. Sideris,

If you look at the column on the left, you
will see BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES.

Click on that and scroll down a short distance
to A HISTORY OF THE23RD TANK BATTALION.

This book contains a lot of information.
The following may help: The 12th Armored often was divided into 3 parts. Combat Commands A, and B, and C. CCR had the 23rd Tank Battalion, the 17th Armored Infantry Battalion, and the 495th Armored Field Artillery. CCA had the 43rd Tank B., the 66th AIB, and the 493rd AFA. CCB had the
714th Tank Batt., the 56th AIB and the 493rd
AFA.

There are good maps and some description of
where the Combat commands were on given days.

Also, look to the left and Click on Oral History Videos. Click on the top of the
column labeled Battalion. This will sort
all men into battalions. Search for the 23rd.
They will be all together. Look for company
B.

Have fun.

Also, Contact Geoff Lackey, the Unit Rep.
to the Hellcat News. He can put you in touch
with men who may remember your Dad.

Cpl James Sideris, B Co clerk,
recently saw a picture of Miss
Janice Hansen, winner of a "leg
contest," in the Barkeley News.
He had the pleasure of dancing
with her at the Roseland Ball-
room in New York.
