MORE INFO PLEASE - what do you have placing him at Camp Barkeley in 1942? Did he have a middle initial? where did he enlist from and where did he live? THAT WILL HELP TRACE HIM.
But the 12th wasn't at Camp Barkeley in 1942.

Hello, According to a website history of
Camp Barkeley, the 45th, 19th, 11th Armored
and 12th Armored Divisions trained at camp
Barkeley. So far, I have learned that the
45th trained there in 1942. This division
was made up of men from the Southwest of the
USA. It was a National Guard Unit of from
Oklahoma, originally.

I am travelling and can not check my records
on the dates when the 12th Armored trained
there. However, I believe they came later,
in 1943. I am now going to search the 45th
Division website to see if they have a roster.

The 12th Armored arrived in Camp Barkley, TX in Nov. 1943, taking over from the 11th Armored. In Aug. 1944, the first detachment of 12th Armored troops left Camp Barkley, TX for Camp Shanks, NY.
