I'm reviewing the service record of Pvt. Arthur Grahl, who served under the 12th Armored Division at Camp Campbell, 1942-1943. He was med boarded out in October 1943 and at the time he was assigned to Casual Company of the "3557th SU". Does anyone recognize that unit?

Hello, I am away from my research materials
temporarily. I think it may be that the
3557th was used for temporary assignment for
men who were hurt or ill.

More later

Hello, After looking around the web, and entering
"Casualty Co" and 3557, etc. I found several variations
for veterans who survived the war and were buried years
later.

I AM MAKING AN INFORMED GUESS.

Casual Co 3557 SU

translates as:

Casualty Company 3557 Service Unit

and is sometimes written:

Cas. Co. 3557 S U
