I am looking for any info. about these two. they were in C copany, but at the time they were killed they were with A copany because of shortages. I dont know who was in there crew when the tank was hit. what little I have learned came from a page of a 43rd battalion history that was sent to me. Any info. would be great.

Hi,

I am a Legacy member of 12AD Association. After doing some basic research I believe your name is Daron Heslop.

If I am reading your question correctly you are looking for rosters or morning reports, which will confirm what company these men were in when they were killed. And possibly you are looking for survivors of their company.

The first recommendation I have is contact the 43RD Tank Batt., Unit Rep. Mark Ault , 765-459-5245..... email malt4803@aol.com he maybe be able to help.

Second, if you are "next of kin" as defined by the National Archives you may be able to get their death records which may contain additional information. The NA was devastated in 1973 by a fire which destroyed every personal record from WW2. Their website states they only have pre 1944 rosters. Morning reports only contain change, who was not there that day, who was transferred in / out and sick call.

Third, contact the Veterans Administration for any records on these individuals. The VA records contain life insurance applications and beneficiary data. You must also support the "next of kin" rule.

If you are not a next of kin, as defined, but are a relative, you may be able to get their records from the NA and VA. You will need to write a letter stating who your are and what your relationship is to the Vet. I did this with my uncle who was KIA, and although I did not fulfill the next of kin rule the info requested was sent to me.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Regards,

Ken
