posted 2/7/2011 7:12:39 PM posted 2/5/2011 10:14:19 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello,
I found your father's name on the list of 17,000 members on the left side of this screen. I note that you say something about Burma. The 12th was not in Burma, UNLESS, your father spent some service time there with another Division. The 44th Tank Battalion was in the Phillipines, and perhaps elsewhere in that region, and they were once part of the 12th Armored.
I simply do not understand your reference to Burma.
I am repeating below a message I sent 2 days ago to another person asking about the 56th, H.Q.
I am traveling for the month. Please contact me on March 1 or so, and I will try and help. Meanwhile, you can contact the Unit Rep to the Hellcat News:
Ed Pierce piercejr9@aol.com 609 585 6315
Also, read the diary entitled HISTORY OF THE 56TH ARMORED INFANTRY BATTALION.
(Look on the left side under BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES)
Also, read the report on Herrlisheim by Dale Miller. Also read in the column on the left
ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS, and look for veterans from the 56th, especially HQ. I know a guy from HQ, but I don't know his phone number. His address is:
Phil Clarke, 23 Evergreen St. Cortland, NY 13045
Ask him for his phone number, as he prefers talking to writing. Tell him I sent you.
