It is with sad regret my grandfather Dave Laffal passed January 28, 2010. attached is a portion of the obituary:
LAFFAL LEON D LAFFAL Leon David Laffal (Dave) Major U.S. Army Retired, was born October 30, 1917 in New York City. He passed in his sleep on January 28, 2010 after suffering a stroke. Mr. Laffal served in the Korean War with the 40th Infantry Division and in World War II with the 12th Armored Division. While serving in the Army he received: the Bronze Star Medal and 2 Army Commendation Medals. He served in the Army faithfully for 20 years.
If there are any 12th Armored veterans or families in the Washington D.C. area that would like to attend the service:
Tuesday May 25 at 1 p.m. a funeral with full military honors will be held at The Fort Myer Chapel on the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.
I have compiled a large amount of photographs from WW2 that Dave took and other photographs he collected as well
If the museum is interested please contact me. I have scanned the photographs, and retouched and repaired them professionally.
