Looking for info and possible photos of him. Cant seem to find what company he was in for sure. I am his son and i am trying to maybe find someone who served with him and might be willing to talk with me.

Hello,
Please contact, Ken Poucher, (765) 288 0057
kenpoucher@comcast.net
Ken is the Unit Representative to the Hellcat News. He can
put you in touch with some veterans. The job is a little more
complicated because Howard Witt's Battery (Company) is
not given on the 17,000 members roster.

Also, go to the left column: BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES. Scroll down to the book about the 495th Field Artillery. There are many names in there, any you
might get lucky. Also look for men from the 495th
on the ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS.

Yours truly, Mike Woldenberg

We found a photo of "B" BTBY, 495th Armored F. A. from Camp Campbell, KY in 1943. All the last names are written on the back of the photo. One name is "Witt,H.S" - maybe your dad?

We are making progress. Look in
BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES. Scroll
to the book on the 495th Field Artillery.
Find chapter on Battery B. Also inform
the Unit Representative (see above)
that Howard Witt was with Battery B.

Finally, I knew a Howard Witt from Chicago.
He would be in his late 70s now, I think. He was studying acting. Probably a coincidence?
