Looking for anyone who served with my Uncle Mike so his grand daughters can learn about him. He fought in WWII, was a guard at Nuremberg during the trials, was a mess sargeant in Korea (his camp was over run but they North Koreans were just hungry and surrendered after they were fed. Good story.), stationed in Alaska for a couple of years, and finally retired from the military to live in CT. He was a quiet, good man and I would like to gift his grand children with more information about him.

Dear Anne, I looked in the Roster on the left side:
17,000 Members. I found that Michael Petrucelli was
attached to Division Headquarters. You should begin your search by contacting the Unit Representative for the
Division Headquarters Units.

Bill_Hardin223@sbcglobal.net
Phone: 573-642-3801

Ask him to put a notice in the Hellcat News, possibly for
the January issue. By the way, you might tell Bill Hardin
the story about the Korean soldiers; that would be a good
story for publication. Also, ask Bill for the names and phone numbers of men you might contact yourself.
I have not checked the new ORAL HISTORY VIDEOS on the left column. You might find someone from his Division Headquarters Unit. Finally, check the BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES for stories about the different battalions.

Anne, check out the oral history tapes by
Julius Bernstein, Joe Hollerbach, and Lawrence Mayer.
They are all from Division Headquarters.

They will give you an insight about where HQ was and what they did.

When you talk to Bill Hardin, tell him about your uncle's
experiences at the Nuremberg trials.

Thank you so much! The Michael Petrucelli you referred to is a much younger man than my uncle who was born in 1917 or thereabouts. My uncle is survived by three sisters and I'm hoping one of them will remember an old address for him that will be helpful.

Anne, The Roster has a Michael L. Petrucelli, 126 N Essex
Ave. Orange, N.J. He is listed as part of Headquarters
Company, 12th Armored Division. This is an ambiguous
assignment. He may have been at the Division HQ, or
any of the Battalion HQ.

Could Michael L. Petrucelli be your relative? The L. is crucial.
Otherwise, his name has been mistakenly left off of the
Roster. Depending on your answer, we might have to contact all of the Unit Representatives.
