It's been said that my father, George L. McCargar, Jr., received an transfusion of "bad blood" after he was wounded in January, 1945, near Herrlisheim. Result: hepatitis.

Can anyone give me any information on whether Hepatitis was something that ran in the overall blood supply at that time, or was even isolated to the Front?

Or is this another one of those myths?

Thanks,

Ian D. McCargar

Dear Ian,

You might possibly find out by contacting Dr.
Brendan Phibbs. He was one of the doctors with Combat
Command B. I will send you his address by private
email.
