I found a ring amongst my belongings about a year ago. It is a gold ring with eagels on the side. The top outer circle says 12 Armored Division the inner circle says Colmar Danube Munich around the triangle. On the inside of the ring there are the intials RMJ. The bottom of the ring has been cut. I am in Columbus Ohio. If anyone has any information on this ring please feel free to contact me at janniemccloud.bean@yahoo.com
Thank you for any possible information you may have.

Hi Jannie,
I am the Legacy Director for the 12th Armored Division Association.
How did you get the ring? The fact it has been cut may mean the ring was to small for the owner as he grew older, or was removed after passing away.
The initials are a start but the 12th AD had 17,000 men at it's peak.
The inscription means the ring was made at the wars end.
We have a monthly newspaper the Hellcat News, I am about to write my column for February, I'll put a notice it the paper.
Can you take a picture of it and scan the picture then email it to me? This will help with the ID.

Do you have any relatives who were in the 12th AD and or in WW2?

Regards,

Ken Klinedinst

Hi Jannie,

I did a search of the "Final Roster" AKA listed on the website as "17,000 members" looking for the initials RMJ. There are no names with that combination, of letters. But the following are the names which do not have a MI listed, but meet the RJ requirement.

Robert Jackson 315 W Gross St Ypsilanti MI 17th Arm Inf Bat Co B

Robert Jeffrey 1065 Logan St Denver CO 17th Arm Inf Bat Co B

Robert Johnson - - - 17th Arm Inf Bat Serv Co

Do these names or cities mean anything to you? The cities are the locations where the GI lived when he entered the service.

Regards,

Ken

Dear Jannie, I am also a Legacy Member of the Association. I note that your maiden name may be McCloud. I looked up
this name on the 17,000 Members list. There were two men
listed:

Lyle K. McCloud of Mt Orab, Ohio
152nd Armored Signal Company

William A. McCloud of Bluefield West Virginia
494 Armored Field Artillery Battalion, Battery B

Was one of these men your father? If so, if no matches
with RMJ or RJ are found with his unit on the 17,000 Members List, perhaps one of the several histories might have the name you are looking for. (This is on the assumption that your father's name is given above, and that his friend was in his company/ battery.
