posted 9/25/2007 8:13:12 AM I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR STORIES FROM ANYONE THAT REMEMBERS MY GRANDFATHER LEON ZITSKE. HE WAS IN THE C-66 12TH ARMORED DIVISION AND WAS FROM BEAR CREEK WISCONSIN. HE WAS A PRISONER OF WAR AND WAS CAPTURED AT STEINWALD WOODS ON JAN 16TH, 1945--WHICH ACTUALLY WAS HIS BIRTHDAY. HE IS STILL ALIVE AND I HAVE HEARD SOME STORIES FROM HIM, BUT I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR MORE. I ALSO HAVE HIS CURRENT PHONE AND ADDRESS IF ANYONE WOULD BE INTERESTED IN CORRESPONDING WITH HIM--HE IS NOT VERY COMPUTER SAVY.

posted 10/2/2007 6:40:24 PM Dear Julee, I am a Legacy member of the Association. There is a book entitled C-66 by Weston Lewis Emery. You can buy a copy from the Museum, and you should definitely do that. If you have a problem, contact me. The index of this book shows that your grandfather is mentioned on 10 pages. The book is partly excerpted and a few chapters can be accessed on the left side under BOOKS AND WRITTEN EXPERIENCES. Also, does your grandfather have a Roster? The last one was printed in 2003. You can contact his buddies that way, as the phone numbers and addresses are given. Finally, you can put a notice in the Hellcat News. Just contact the Unit Representative:
George O'Bryan, phone 618 282 6079
email: geoo@htc.net
This should keep you busy for a while.
Yours truly, Mike Woldenberg geomike@buffalo.edu
(Also a Wisconsin native, now in Buffalo; I will be away from email until Oct. 8).
