My name is David Eldred, and I am the son of Duaine L. Eldred, Captain in the 12th Armored Division. My dad passed away 22 years ago this coming November. He had cancer, and was not able to overcome this horrible disease. He was never able to talk much about his war experiences, and I am curious to know if anyone can provide any information or stories about my dad and his role, etc. in WWII. I have his photo album and his Bronze Stars, but little else. He refers by name in his photo album to one individual as "Hawkins". Thanks, and I look forward to any replies. David Eldred

Hi David,

I am a Legacy Member of the 12th Armored Division Association and will help you any way I can. You may want to consider visiting our museum in Abilene, TX details can be found at http://www.12tharmoreddivision.com/index.html

Our organization is unique, formed in 1945 at wars end, we publish a monthly newspaper, the Hellcat News, which averages 15 pages per month, the museum has no financial support from the military and contains many exhibits which were donated by the veterans of the 12th AD. We have regional and a national reunions. When you access the museum website please consider becoming a member of the museum and the association, the applications and other information can be found there.

Regards,

Ken Klinedinst
