So, i recently came across my grand-uncle's name on the posted roster of the 12th and for some reason cannot find his troop in the published history of his unit. My question will soon be resolved as soon as i coax his sister into submitting a request to the DOD for his service history; but i am a rather impatient human. In that event, would anybody have any form of clue why Emil Antolick registers himself as a part of the 92nd Cav Recon Troop A when i can only find info on troops B through E?!

Guest,

I am a Legacy Member of the 12th AD Association. I am confused by some of your questions. Your grand uncle is listed on this site, under the heading of 17,000 Members, as 92nd Recon Trp A. This is a 12th AD roster which was published in 1945, and referred to as the “Final Roster”. I have seen this roster, but do not recall the source, but those listed did not place their own unit assignments on it.

You state, “for some reason cannot find his troop in the published history of his unit.” Where are you looking for “the published history” and “yet when i can only find info on troops B through E?!” Reason I ask, unit history when published by the Army usually is done at a unit level higher than a Troop, and in this case it would be Division.

Ken

Guest,

If you are referring to history and info as in the section of this site, named “Books and Written Experiences” these documents were written by members of the units listed.

If you go to page 27, of “Squadron History: 92nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron”, you will find “History of A Troop From December 1st to VE Day” which apparently was not included on the index.

This might answer some of your questions about your grand uncle.

Regards,

Ken
