posted 12/15/2006 8:58:55 PM Looking for stories, information regarding my uncle Alford E. Schuft, or Troop E of the 92nd Recon, others rememberances, experiences in general, etc. PFC Schuft's discharge papers indicate he was Honorably Discharged from the US Army with his last assignment to the 12th Armored Div-92nd Recon Troop E. He entered the service from Stewart Minnesota in October 1942 and was discharged Jaunuary 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisc. He returned home to Stewart/Glencoe MN area. It appears he was first in North Africa, unknown at this point with which Divsion, etc. He had bright blue eyes, was only 5-3, and weighed 160 lbs, brown hair, and had a great smile. It states he was a Tank Crewman-1736, battles listed as Rhineland & Central Europe.
I regret to also inform that the honorable PFC Schuft who was recalled from reserve status for the Korea WAR was assigned to the 2nd Division 38th Infantry Reg, (unknown company or last assignment) was KIA in Korea 2-12-1951, (He was first listed as MIA until March 1951 when his remains and dog tags were found on the Chip'yong-ni,Hoengsong-Wonju battlefield (awaiting information on his company assignment to determine which of the 3 cities he was found near). His remains were located by the 2nd ID and 7th Marines in the 51-spring offensive against the Chinese and North Korean's who were then retreating back to the 38th parallel.
Any information from either 92nd/Troop E Recon WWII or by anyone by chance was associated with the 2nd ID 38th Reg from Korea (50-51),would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Glen Mueller.

posted 12/16/2006 9:13:21 AM Dear Glen, I am a legacy member of the Association. I was very sorry to read that after your Uncle had fought in the Mediterranean area, and then with the 12th Armored in Europe, was killed in Korea.
I can send you a roster for Troop E. Please send me your address by email: (Mike Woldenberg) geomike@buffalo.edu
Also, you should contact the Unit Representative who will put an announcement in the Hellcat News.
Robert Payne,
rppayneb92rcn@verizon.net
Good luck.
