I am currently enrolled at Kent State Unviveristy and I am in need of some information. As my Grandfather Charles is away on vaction i cannot contact him. I was wondering what Unit, Divison he was enlisted in and if there is any information any one has of the units actions. This is for a research paper for a world history/civ class.
Thanks a bunch, Justin Painter

Hi:
According to the 2003 membership directory there is a Charles J. Kozak from Cleveland Ohio. He was a member of the 494th Field Artillery, A Battery. Hope this helps.

Hi Justin,

I am a Legacy Member of the 12th AD Association. I have copied the 494TH AFA Unit Rep, Ted Glogovac, on this message. Ted may be able to provide more info. In the meantime, I suggest you look at this website for combat reports, stories etc. Also look at our Association website http://12tharmoreddivision.com/ for the same. Both sites contain a wealth of historical info, personal written experiences and photos.

Regards,

Hi, I am also a legacy member of the 12th Armored Association. The 12th Armored Museum in Abilene has a many video tapes of oral history. The names are indexed with
the veteran's unit. I have spotted some from the 494th Field Artillery. I saw an old listing of the tapes on another website. I can not find the listing on this website or on the other 12th armored website. However, if you GOOGLE as follows,
you can find it:

Oral History and 12th Armored Division

you will find a website from Abilene Christian University with a list of video tapes of oral histories. You can order the tapes from the Museum. I would call the Museum in Abilene and ask what it would cost to send a tape. Also, they may have a more complete list than what I found on the web.

Good luck.

Hi Justin,

I just received a letter from your grandfather requesting I register his name on the WW2 Memorial. Which I will do.
