Hello ! My grandfather was also in this company so I have just learned by visiting this site. His name was "Willie Minor Geddings". He was wounded in action which caused him total blindness for the rest of his life until death. I was merely a small child when he had died at the age of, I think 60 something. I am 44 now! If you have any further information about my grandfathers role in this company, I would be more than happy to learn of it... Thanks "William Geddings"

My uncle, Francis Aiden Larthey was a member of the 12 Armored Division, 17th Armored Infantry Battalion COmpany C. He was killed in LaHarve France on December 8th 1944. The family would like to know more about the uncle we never knew. He died at 20 and I am now almost 60. Submitted with pride and sadness.

My dad, Luke E. Zilles, was a member of the 12th AD, 17th AIB, Comp C, 2nd Platoon. He passed away June 10, 2002. Never talked much about the war, though he showed my sister and I the scar on his shoulder where the mortar shrapnel ripped in. He left us a copy of "Mount Up" (with personal photographs) which he helped write with Bud Wiley, Phil Narten, Ed Saller and many others. After finding it in his personal effects (along with his dress uniform) I read it and discovered he was wounded in Herrlisheim during the Nazi offensive of Jan 16-19th, 1944.
Bud Wiley has a very interesting oral history
(http://www.oshkoshmuseum.org/Virtual/exhibit6/vexid6.htm).
of the 2nd Platoon - he says all 12 of the original members received Purple Hearts. I believe they included Phil Narten, Bud Wiley, Thomas E. Boos, Donald C. Marshall and Ed Saller. Dad included a picture of the Platoon in Auffay before they went into the heavy fighting in December 1944.
Does anyone know of the names of the other members of the platoon? Thanks for thinking of them. My email is kzilles@realprop.org.
