I would like to find out as precisely as possible the location and activities of the 17th AIB on or about March 1, 1945 (all companies). I have written the VA and they have nothing on it at all. If anyone out there can help, I would appreciate it.

Hi Bert,

I am a Legacy Member of the 12th Armored Division Association.

The best way for you to get answers to any questions you have about the 17th AIB and any other unit of the 12th AD is to attend our annual reunion in...... TULSA this Sept. If you would like a registration form Email me your address and I'll send one to you. It will be one of the greatest experiences of you life. Meet those who were there.

Regards,

Ken

Dear Bert, If you go to the National Archives
in Bethesda Maryland, you can find a file for the 17th Armored Infantry Battalion. It is very likely that you will find the information in the Battalion's file. I have found such information in the file for the 56th Armored Infantry Battalion. You will probably need more than a full day, as you will need time
to get started, and then you will be distracted by the treasures in those files.

Dear Bert, I made a small error. The National Archives for WW2 information are
near College Park, Maryland, on Adelphi
Road, I believe.

Bert, Co. A, 17th AIB was in Zimming Barracks, France from 13 Feb. to 9 Mar. 1945. It is in vicinity St. Avold, in northern France. Cos. B, C, and D were likely there, too.
