While navigating through the photo album of the 44th tank battalion on your site, I was very surprised when I spotted a photo of my father on page 3. I knew I had seen this exact photo before and located it along with 21 others (they too are in the photo album). My father made note on the back of names and sometimes home states. My father was R.E. Darcy from Ohio and his picture is on Pg. 3, 3rd picture down on the left side captioned 4 men by 2 tanks (also have the names & states of the other 3 men). I would be interested in any info about the 44th TB. Thank you.

My father, Larry Fratzke, was part of the 44th as well. He's preparing for an Honor Flight to Washington DC and I wanted to know if others have taken this flight as well and could share experience.

Please contact me at BOBRUTL@yahoo.com, and put "44th Tank Battalion" in the subject line if you have any questions about the 44th Tank Battalion. I am the Association's historian and have a fair bit of information regarding the unit's service in the South Pacific. The Association produces an occasional newsletter if you are interested.

Our relative, Lavern (potsie)Lawrence was also in the 44th. He was a tank driver and his tank was either "West Frankfort Thunderbolt", or "Yankee". Lavern was pictured in the very last picture. There are 5 men and he is top guy.
